‘BEE a Comedienne!’—‘No Holds BARR-ed!’

Every once in a great while, I decide that I need to take a break from writing a blog about politics and all the political machinations taking place in Washington, D.C.  My last blog, about the value of a college degree in today’s society was one such break.  But then………bam!  Either the media, Hollywood or politics suck me right back into what has now become, the hateful quagmire of our society.

By this time, anyone not living in a cardboard box in Borneo has heard about the totally inappropriate tweet by Roseanne Barr concerning Valerie Jarrett.  Why in God’s green earth Roseanne decided to make this tweet about Valerie Jarrett, I will never know.  Like the other 99% of the people in America, I forgot about Jarrett and who she was until she was brought forward by this tweet.  She was a presidential adviser to  Barrack Obama.  Yup, just like you, my mind did a control, alternate, delete and erased her from my limited, aging memory bank.  Even though Ms. Jarrett is a passionate Liberal politically, she does not appear to be running for any elected office…at least not yet.  Only Roseanne knows why she made her the subject of this tweet.

I am not going to write the verbatim tweet written by Roseanne.  It was inappropriate, needless, and if Roseanne was trying to be funny, she did a 10 story belly flop onto concrete.  What I find way more interesting is the responses to the tweet.  The president of ABC Entertainment, Channing Dungey, immediately….and I do mean ‘immediately’, within hours, cancelled the show.  Channing is the first black person, (and coincidentally she is a woman) to be a president of ABC Entertainment.  The Hollywood social media nabobs came out of the woodwork in support of the ABC decision to cancel the show.  And, as expected, the vast majority supported the decision.

One of the more interesting, and coincidentally one of the first responsive tweets came from Alyssa Milano.  She tweeted, “Thank you, @ABCNetwork for doing the right thing and for showing people that bigotry and racism have consequences.  (So far, so good!  And then?)  Now, if you could only cancel our President for the same reason.  Say what?  Alyssa, you were doing so well with your tweet, and then somehow your mind wandered to the POTUS?  What exactly did you mean when you said ‘cancel our President?’  I am not confused about the fact that you accused the POTUS of bigotry and racism.  Do you know Donald Trump personally?  Are you on his Christmas card list?  Or are you just spewing the liberal blather of name calling, because name calling is the basis of the liberal hatred for Trump and the people that support him; which, coincidentally, is the majority of Americans!

If you have followed the Roseanne incident, you are aware that she has gone to great lengths to apologize to Valerie Jarrett, to ABC, to her cast of Roseanne, and to the world.  She has volunteered to work for free for a limited time and to do free promotional work for ABC,  all with the intent of keeping her show alive.   She has apologized profusely for her lack of judgement in attempting to be comedic, and she realizes her comments were responsible for a whole lot of people losing  their jobs.

ABC on the other hand, now realizes how much money the Rosanne show made and how much they will lose by cancelling the program.    Ahhh….there is nothing more awakening than the reality of the consequences suffered by doing a knee jerk reaction to a tweet.  ABC will lose lots of money and in Hollywood, money is the ultimate ‘god!’  They are actually thinking of continuing the program, using Sara Gilbert as the central character on the show.  What will be the show’s new name?  Roseanne without Roseanne?  I like Sara Gilbert.  I liked her on the original Roseanne.  I liked her as the antagonist to Sheldon Cooper on the ‘Big Bang Theory.’  I do not like her on ‘The View.’  Do you think that politics has had a big part of this whole affair?  I will predict that any version of the Rosanne show without Rosanne Barr is going to tank.  Like her or not….she is the show.

Just when you thought that things cannot get any loonier than this whole incident surrounding Roseanne Barr, along comes a relative unknown named Samantha Bee.  Unknown to the extent that she has a show on TBS called, ‘Full Frontal with Samantha Bee.’  I have never heard of her and never heard of her show.  Her credentials are that she has spent 12 years on Comedy Central, and as a reporter for ‘The Daily Show.’  Well there you have it!  She’s a comedienne, so that makes her preeminently qualified to provide vitriolic political commentary.

What started this little incident was a tweet of Ivanka Trump holding her 2 year old baby boy.  This photo was posted by Ivanka.   But the people that live in the depths of the liberal swamp could not take the picture at face value.  That face value being a mother holding and cuddling her baby.  No..no..no!  It was obviously a picture that decries the fact that illegal immigrant parents are being separated from their illegal immigrant children.  Another ‘leap of logic’ by the liberals that makes Evel Knievel’s leap over the Snake River Canyon look like hopping a curb.  How these people get there, I will never know.

But Samatha Bee, that all caring person on her show decided that the Ivanka Trump’s photo tweet warranted calling Ivanka a “feckless cxxt”.  That particular noun, more than any other noun in the world would set off my late mother with more intensity than a volcano in Hawaii.  She absolutely hated that word and yet here it is….on national television for all to hear.  I cannot find enough proper adjectives to describe this incident:  Disrespectful?  No doubt!  Low class?  Yup!  Inappropriate?  Hell yes!  Politically motivated? Check.

Again, the Hollywood brain trust sprints into action.  This time by the ‘flying nun’ herself, Sally Field.  (Ok, for you younger readers, Ms. Field starred in a TV show called ‘The Flying Nun.  It was during black and white TV.)  Ms. Field tweeted, “I like Samantha Bee a lot, but she is flat wrong to call Ivanka a cxxt. Cxxts are powerful, beautiful, nurturing and honest.”  I am totally confused by her comments.  But I hope that Ms. Field will have an opportunity to meet my mother in the afterlife, because the momma of Grandpa T will kick your ass for being so stupid and vulgar.  Amen.  Samantha Bee will never meet my mother, because if dear old departed mom has seen her show, she will be politicing for Samantha to go straight to the hell for the dumb and vulgar!  Again…amen.

Before you join the Samantha Bee fan club, I would like to share some facts about her before you remit your membership dues.  Samantha Bee was …..tada….born in Canada.  Samantha Bee was…tada….educated in Canada.  And…Samantha Bee is…..tada….a Canadian citizen!  And we’re concerned about Russian collusion with the Trump campaign and we give a pass to Canadian meddling?  Where is Fusion GPS with a damaging report on Samatha Bee when you need one?  Has the FBI or CIA put a spy at TBS?

I want to bring forth one more collective incident that is mesmerizing the press as of late.  That being the personal attacks on the women of the White House.  Primarily, these vicious attacks are made on Ivanka, Melania and Sarah Sanders.  We have comedians getting way too personal and way too political with their feeble attempts to be funny.  But they have all forgotten the definition of funny and proceed with their vitriolic slurs, all in the name of entertainment.  Enough already!

In conclusion, I want to bring one matter to your attention.  I believe all women should never use the word ‘sexism’ again.  Ever.  Why do I say that?  Because in doing the research for this blog, one very important fact became evident.  That fact is that………all of the most vile comments, all of the most ignorant comments, all of the most unfounded comments, and all of the most racist comments made against these women……were made by other women!  With few exception, none of the personal attacks against women are done by men.  Men may support comments made by other women about women, but it appears we have become intelligent enough not to initiate those comments.  What happened to the fairer sex?

Women were always the calming, balanced members of our society.  Now it appears that there are many who have joined the quagmire of our society.  Heaven help us!
